SHOP UPDATE: The 41 is starting to fight back







Well, if you have been following this build it has been going very smooth. I finished the front and rear suspension. Everything went like clock work.  I have been waiting for the snag. It showed its ugly face today.  I slipped the big block 390 between the rails today. Its like stuffing a square peg in a round hole. this is the first time I have used this engine and trans combination in a 35-41 Ford. The oil pan is a definite problem, it is an easy fix. I will replace it with a rear sump oil pan and be able to drop the engine down just a touch. The real issue is the giant C-6 trans mission. The engine needs to go  back just a little and the trans is stuffed in the x member as far as it will go. The next step will be a fabricate a new x member and give the trans some space. Stay tuned.

  1. Coming right along. Looks good. That the rear diff or temp. Looks like GM not ford with disc brakes.

    That is a Ford Explorer 8.8 posi rear axle. right now it is a temp. We will have to make a decision in the near future if we stay with it or order a QC
