SHOP TRUCK: Susi and I made some real progress on the 40 today

This is the gap on the drivers front fender
The passenger fender gap

So, we decided today was the day to get those fender gaps sorted out.
I cut the fenders at the corners so we could pull the flange tight to the cowl side. I added 3 threaded inserts to bolt the flange to the cowl. Then located the fender to the running board which showed the true gaps. The drivers side was much worse than the passengers.
We opened the gap to 1 inch for ease of fabricating the filler strip

We welded in the strip in 3 pieces just because it was easier to manipulate the fill in shorter runs.
This is the finished filler all tacked in. Nice tight gap. Should go together without the fender welting which is what I am trying to avoid.
Here, Susi is cutting the fender open to the 1 inch gap so I can weld in the filler strips

Ready for the filler to be welded in

Susi was finish grinding the welds on the new rockers, sorry I forgot photos
Here is the finished drivers side fender. Tight and right, gonna look good
We also finished the custom hood latch. We went with a little more modern technology on this one.
I need to finish the hood safety catch and this job is done
