SHOP UPDATE: More cuttin on Susi's 37 pickup

 This shot puts the chop into perspective. It shows the drastic difference from stock.

 Here is the newly fitted windshield frame in the cab. This was the best fit of all the chops I have done.

Swings and functions just like original. Time for glass.

MERRY CHRISTMAS !!

This is another one of our personal projects. We moved it out of the shop and into storage to free up some space for the projects we are working on now.

 Susi and I spent Christmas day finishing up the bottom of her cab. All welding and fab is finished. We will get a few more things finished up inside and it is ready to prime and finish.

The last few days have been spent trying to repair some old damage on the 36  fenders. Slow but sure they are getting better. I hope it won't be long and they will be finished.

SHOP UPDATE: Susi's first shop project

So, Susi is tired of searching for some safety glasses in the shop. She grabbed some scrap sheet metal and threw this little rack together. I was clearing some panels for a friend so I give it a shot. Great idea !

 We worked on the cab all weekend. We finished the filler panels for the channel job and also finished filling in the rear corners.

 Last thing is to repair a little rust and fill in the front corners and the cab is about done.

 I spent an hour this morning working on her chassis while waiting for the fab shop to warm up. I got the Carter fuel pump mounted.

 Mounted the proportion valve for the rear brakes

 Mounted the transmission cooler.

Run my first piece of brake line as well. Hope to get some serious brake work done tomorrow night.

I also finished making the tabs for the motor mounts on the 28 Model A sedan. I will weld them tomorrow and we can move the car into storage for the winter and free up some shop space.

SHOP UPDATE: Finishing the channel job on Susi's 37 pickup

 So, Susi's truck had sat in the dirt so long it had rusted the bottom of the cab off.  I have moved the floor up in the cab 4 inches leaving a serious gap between the floor and the new rocker panel.

 First thing was to straiten out the edges of the door jam and give me a place to attach the new filler panel.

 This is the font patch I welde in to clean up the lines of the door jam.

 the new panel trimmed to fit and marked out for bead rolling.

Here is the new panel bead rolled and welded in. Looks much better. Now I need to graft on the new cab corner from the donor cab and this side is finished.

SHOP UPDATE: Its 3 degrees outside, sounds like a good day to do some welding

 I finished forming the patch for the rear fender,welded and ground it out. Turned out good. Now to fix some old repairs and this one is done.

 Today was the first try with my new english wheel. I needed to contour a patch for the bottom of the door. Its not much of a challenge for someone that knows how to use the wheel. It was much more difficult than I expected but the results were fantastic. I was able to get my patch to lay perfectly flat on the skin and welded in pretty good. I may have rushed the welding a bit but that would be my fault not the patch. All in all, I am totally satisfied with the outcome.

 Both doors are done and ready for prime and body work. It gets a little closer every day.

 I did a little welding on Susi's tonight.

 Gauge holes welded up and ready for Sue to grind.

I also finished welding the rear corner graft. we will have to do some creative patina matching when the cab is finished.

SHOP UPDATE: Widening rear fenders on a 36 Ford pickup

 So here we have the fender that has been split and a 1" strip tack welded in.  Notice the mismatch at the running board where the fender is now to wide.

 Here is the fender welded up and finished except for the small section at the bottom rear. I will fabricate this and finish it today.

 Here is the fender cut and rolled under to match up with the running boards. I am really happy with the finished product. I will be interested to see how many people notice it when the truck is finished.
