SHOP UPDATE: So Susi does upholstery!

So, my wife Sue decided she would give some upholstery panels for my Model A a try.

We came up with an idea for covering up the flanges where the cab panels are bolted together.

Sue cut some panel board and glued the matching vinyl material with spray adhesive. This is the first panel installed.
Here it is with the two side panels cut glued and installed.
We had to put the seat in and see how it looks. We would have finished the other 2 side panels but ran out of spray adhesive. What a bummer.
I had to sit in and see how will feel.
While Sue was in upholstery mode, I was working on the pieces to the floor pan.

This is what I accomplished tonight, I should get the other panels cut to fit tomorrow and start bead rolling. I should be done with the floor tomorrow and get the steering column in and hook up the steering. I should be taking it for a ride this week.

SHOP UPDATE: some of the latest from the shop

Well, after our issue with both fuel tank sending units and having to dis-assemble the entire truck to change them. The problem has been repaired and the truck has been put back together.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. IT RUNS!!! The engine runs great and the trans works in all gears. It is time to tin in the floor and get the steering finished and go driving.

Here is a little bit of frame work Sue and I are doing on Todd's 42. We are scratch building the tubular X member for the frame. Can't wait until the new tubing notcher shows up.

SHOP UPDATE: Got a little work done on the A tonight

All the wiring is finished except the lights and the fuel pump.
The dash is assembled, next is to paint the glove box lid and install the glove box.
I installed the new module in the Unilite and dropped it in. I also converted the electric choke to manual on the carb and installed the spark plugs. Tomorrow I will make the spark plug wires and add some fluids and its time to start it up.

SHOP UPDATE: More of Todd's rat rod

Today we made some brackets for the gas tank.
The tanks fits in there very nice
We also mounted the Vega steering box. Had to tuck it in under the oil filter but it will work really nice.
We also mounted the radiator and grill shell. I am searching for a good set of headlights. so we can build some shock/headlight mounts.

SHOP UPDATE: Todd's 42 Ford

So we needed to strengthen the frame between the kick-ups.
Thought a safety loop for the driveshaft would be cool and add the support we were looking for.
Here is Susi grinding the ends of the tubing to fit.
I tacked in the fish plate over the weld seam before tacking in the upper tubes
Here is the finished product. We still have to make the link that closes the bottom of the loop. It has to be removable so you can get the drive shaft out for service.
We also mocked up the engine and a temp. transmission. The motor mounts are  tack welded in place. Next will be the X member in the frame and the transmission mount. We are waiting for the correct transmission and we will get it finished up.

Just buggin my beautiful wife.

I REALLY LOVE MY WIFE!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!! My wonderful wife spoiled me with some new toys for the shop. What a day!!

SHOP UPDATE: We are banging out Todd's rat rod

Sue sand blasted and cleaned Todd's door latches and regulators. I sprayed them black and will pack them full of grease so they are ready to go back in.
I made the glass pattern for the door windows yesterday. I hope to drop them off at Al's this weekend to get a head start on the glass.
Todd dropped off the 351 Windsor engine, I think I have scored an AOD transmission for it.

Sue and I have been finishing up the final welding on the cab. Everything is welded and ground bu the roof. I will remove the cab to weld that when I install the engine and trans. That is the progress for this week. We will get back on it on Monday.

SHOP UPDATE: More progress on the A

I dropped the tranny pan to see if I coupe fix the kick down lever. Ended up dropping the valve body a well. I got farther into that automatic than I ever wanted to be. I did get the kick down fixed and everything back together with no extra parts. I also added the chrome pan. Why not?
Everything is really tight but its all in there and functions like it should.

Did a little more paint work the other night.
Mounted the fuse box and started wiring it up.

 More wires

Susi and I had a little fun this evening with some upholstery. We did the new seat for the truck. Turned out really good, looks great with the green trim.
This is the first time I have sat in the truck on a seat!!
