SHOP UPDATE: The chop has begun!

I made some great progress tonight on the 41. After a little hammer and dolly work on the roof I began the process of measuring and marking the cab for the chop.  I welded in some bracing so the cab would not move or flex when I cut the roof off.  So far, so good. I will start fitting the cab back together tomorrow and start welding. Thanks for looking in.

SHOP UPDATE: Getting ready to chop the 41

I mocked up all the sheet metal today and was able to really see the stance. It's perfect in my opinion. I have disassembled the truck again and started fitting the doors. I have a bunch of hinge repair on both doors. Once the hinges are repaired and the doors are fit and gaped I will start the chop. It's looking like a 2 1/2 chop should be just right. It's just enough to be noticeable but not enough to make the truck look extra long.

SHOP UPDATE: More parts for the 41

I mocked up the front sheet metal to check the fit. The new bed arrived today so I started fitting it together. This is a really nice product. It should be pretty easy to put together. Tomorrow should be another day of progress.

SHOP UPDATE: Gettin it done on the 41

I fit all the body blocks and bolted the cab to the frame and almost finished the firewall tonight. I really like the way it is coming together. Should be very clean when it is painted. Tomorrow is floor time.

SHOP UPDATE: John's 41 Ford

John's 390 is gone and the builder 428 has arrived. I swapped the engines yesterday and cut out the rest of the firewall. I have new oak body blocks for the cab. I will get them fit and get the cab bolted back down. Then I can start rebuilding the new firewall. Stay tuned

SHOP UPDATE: I spent yesterday working on John's 41 Ford

We thought the 41 was riding a little tall so I installed some drop spindles and re-worked the coil springs. Now she sits about 2 1/2 inches lower. It should look much better when all the sheet metal is on. Stay tuned.
