Don's 35 Ford pickup project

My brother Don and my dad have been working hard on Don's 35 Ford project. They have all the rear suspension and air bags mocked up. It looks super clean and should function perfectly. Now on to the front and get it rolling

SHOP UPDATE: Todd's 42 Ford is getting really close

 Susi is changing out the four link bolts for bolts a touch longer.

 We mounted the electric fan on the radiator and prepped it for install

 Here is the radiator installed and ready for the hoses and fluid

 Did a little test fit with an unknown brand grill shell I come up with. We will see if Todd likes it before I start trimming it for fit.

 I had to change the selector shaft in the trans for the Lokar shifter. While we were inside I changed the trans filter. The trans is clean and the old fluid looked real good. It should be a good used trans.

 My wife had to take over for me and finish up installing the trans pan. She is definitely keeping me on light duty. It is so hard to not just dig in and work really hard.

 The glass setting tape showed up and we finished up the drivers door. Once it is up and running we will get it to Al's glass and he will finish the glass install.

 We finished installing the TV cable and all the brackets for the AOD. Next is to fabricate the linkage for the trans shifter and button it up.

 We installed and mounted the flexible dipstick and tube for the trans. Next is trans cooler lines. We are missing a couple brass fittings and we will start bending some tubing.

Just thought I would post one more shot of my favorite hot rod builder !!! We had a really productive couple of days together.

SHOP UPDATE: Moving really slowly but getting a few things done

 Last night Sue and I assembled the passenger door with the refurbished latch and regulator. We installed all new glass channel and runs and the new smoked tempered window. I ran out of glass setting tape so we couldn't work on the other door. We will get back on it in a couple of days.

I spent an hour this morning finishing the wiring on the engine and the taillights. The wiring is finished except the light switch and the headlights. I will be slowly working on them while I am recovering.

My brother sent some photos of the 34 5 window. I haven't seen the car for while so I thought I better post a few pics. Looks like I will have to make a trip to Utah and see my dad and drive it around a bit.

SHOP UPDATE: My brothers 35 Ford pickup

This is my brothers 35 Ford pickup project. It has a full tube frame with a 351 4V cleveland and a C6. DJ and my father have been designing and building the air ride system and suspension. They just about have the rear all wrapped up. The bags and four link look really nice and they will function fantastic. They still have a ways to go on the front but they have a plan and it will all come togrther soon. Keep up the good work!!

SHOP UPDATE: Susi is getting it done in the shop

 Here is Susi bolting up the torque converter and installing the inspection plate

 Now she is installing the drive shaft and tightening the flange bolts

 I jetted the carb and Susi installed it

 Susi finished grinding all the welds on the doors

She also sanded the outside to match the patina. We will try to get the glass installed in the doors with the latches and all the hardware sometime this week.

SHOP UPDATE: My last day in the shop for a bit.

 The wiring is about 90% finished, Just need a couple of missing switches and wire the front lights.

 I installed the custom dash panel and the steering column tonight.

 I cut the shaft and connected the steering box and column.

 I test fit the seat to get the right length on the steering column and wheel before making the steering shaft.

 The new carb showed up today. I will change the jets and have the wife install it this weekend.

Just a couple of shots as it sits now.

 This is my first attempt at color sanding and buffing an entire panel. I am extremely happy with the results. Until now I have just sanded out the dust and polished small areas. Its a bunch of work but well worth it. Very Happy.

Well, I won't be in the shop for a while. I go in tomorrow for double hernia surgery. It sounds like I will be out of commission for a while. Sounds like a good time to order all the parts for a bunch of these projects so I can really get to work after recovery.
