Some highlights from Tuesdays salmon fly fishing

We had a pretty good day fishing the Salmon fly hatch yesterday. Here are some highlights.

Shop happenings over the last few days.

Did some more welding and repair on Richards 29 pickup parts. I have one more day and they should be finished.

I started repairing the mess someone started on Frank's 55 F 100. I removed the hat from the frame a started grinding down the bird shit looking welds. Then I had to cut a valley between the boxing plate and the frame so I can weld the plate to the frame and get the proper penetration with my weld. Both sides are ready to weld. Then I will install the lower crossmember for the Mustang II front suspension. Should get a bunch more done tonight.

Sue and I went fishing on Sat.

I took Sue fishing on Saturday. The weather started off great and soon was as bad as you can expect for June in Montana. Rain, hail and strong winds made for a really cold afternoon. We were lucky to have the weather clear up a bit so Susi could finish her thrashing of a few more trout before we headed for the hot spring. What a great day again with Sue.

Picked up a new toy last week. I think this will be the new "SHOP TRUCK"

 Well, as if I needed another truck around the yard. I ran across this one a while back and could not pass it up. I am second owner. It is original paint as well as the old school hand lettering on the doors. Yesterday I give it its first bath in at least 20 years. Been sitting for that long. I brought it home and had it started in less than an hour. Went to drive and realized it had a bad clutch. I put a new clutch the other evening and took it for a drive. I will drop the oil pan and fix a leaking rear main seal and install a new oil pump, rebuild the carburetor and give her a tune up and she should be ready to go. I will slowly work on getting the interior fixed up. I spent 5 hours yesterday deep scrubbing the grime from the inside. It looks pretty good all things considered. Should make a great parts chasing beater truck. Check out the before and after shots.

Here are some highlights from the last few days of guiding.

I was able to go on a ride along with Rooster the other day. Turned out to be the greatest day of salmon fly fishing ever! Fishing has been pretty good lately. stay tuned!
